"Over the years I have served as President (and revivalist) of the former Spring City Triathletes, turning it into Team ROCKET Tri-Club and bringing membership from 12 to 100+. I have also been a triathlon coach for TRI-101 since inception and am former RD of Heel & Crank Duathlon, plus heavy involvement with Fleet Feet Sports other Tri-training programs." - Rick
Short Term Goals
My short term goals are to continue on with coaching and inspiring as many individuals as possible to the sport.
Long Term Goals
Hopefully to be the “last on standing”! Seriously, I hope to compete in this great sport for many more years to come. Looking for a good race this year in Louisville as well as all the local events. A famous man once said that you will live for 20 years after your last ironman simply due to your conditioning... You do the math!
I’ve had some great ½ iron finishes in my career that I am very proud of, but taking first place in age group at Bone Island Ironman this past January was really cool. Even though the race was very small, I had an extremely good, back and forth race for the win. Best IM time was 11:52.
My Bucket List
I’ve been in the sport now for about 18 years after attempting my first triathlon as a “dare” from a friend. That first race was painful, I had no idea what I was doing, no idea how the whole thing worked, and I just kind of followed along with the crowd. Well some 175 triathlons and 13 ironmans later, I think I have it figured out. I absolutely love this sport and love what it does to people. Not just the physical body shaping portion, but what it does to strengthen the mind, give confidence, and result with outstanding, lifelong relationships. I became intimately involved in the Fleet Feet TRI-10 training program from its inception, and that has become a deep passion. There’s not many better feelings than watching these new people come into the sport with intimidation and apprehension, then continue on, and several of them have gone on to complete the iron distance. AWESOME!
I am married to Becci and together we have a 20 year old daughter, Karly. These two ladies are the equestrians of the family.
