"I was a participant and volunteer at many events in 2013. I was also a staple at many training session held by race directors at various sites around North Alabama. I continue to be an example of lifetime fitness to the many students I teach and coach at Grissom High School." - Jeff
Short Term Goals
This season I am looking to get back some of the running speed I had last season. While I am cycling and swimming well, I am in the process of rehabilitating my right knee from off season surgery. I had some rough cartilage cleaned up and hope to be back running well in the near future. I am looking forward to competing in the points series with my ultimate goal being to perform well at Ironman Chattanooga this September.
Long Term Goals
I am currently 31 years old and would love to be doing this 20 years from now. I want to stay healthy and enjoy training and racing in this community.
Essentials in my diet?
I am going into my 5th year of racing triathlon. I came into triathlon with no real background in any of the three sports. I played basketball, baseball, and soccer growing up. Focusing on basketball through high school I developed a love of competition. I have also enjoyed practices as much as games. This is one of the reasons I really enjoy Triathlon. Training with my friends and fellow competitors is just as enjoyable as the races themselves. When I'm not training I teach high school math and coach basketball at Grissom High School. I am excited to be a part of the Fleet Feet Triathlon racing team for the second year in a row.
I had a great year last year as far as race results go. I finished on the podium (2nd) at the terribly cold and rainy Lake Guntersville Olympic. In addition to that I was 3rd overall in the points series. Those two recognitions are just an indication of how I felt racing strong throughout the season. I also set a PR of 18:49 at the PHP 5k.
