"Last year I helped to promote the sport of Triathlon and Fleet Feet by participating as a Fleet Feet Tri 201, 102 and 13.1 mentor as well as volunteering at the Pesky Pirhana, Rocketman, and Huntsvile Sprint Triathlons." - Donnie
Short Term Goals
My #1 goal for this season is to complete Ironman Chattanooga. I've got some time goals in mind, but I'll keep those to myself for now. :)
My #2 goal for the season is to compete well in all of the local triathlons during the season. I'm particularly looking forward to the new Renaissance Man Olympic Triathlon in Florence.
Long Term Goals
My long term goal is to progress into being a more competitive long distance triathlete. That starts this year with my first IM.
Essentials in my diet?
I am a native of Huntsville and graduated from Grissom High School. The only years of my life that I haven't lived here where the years that I was in college, and that was just an hour or so west at the University of North Alabama. There, I met my wife (of almost 10 years) Kimberly, and we now live in Huntsville with our three wonderful children. I am currently working as a Software Engineer writing mapping software for the Telecommunications industry.
Growing up, I was always an athlete. I competed in baseball, soccer, basketball, tennis, and even martial arts for a few years. I missed this tremendously after graduating college and was always looking for something to fill this gap. Eventually, I participated in the first Tri 201 training program at Fleet Feet and I became absolutely hooked on the sport from then on. We have built a tremendous peer group of Triathletes here over the past few years and I'm very excited to see this community growing so quickly.
