I was on USA Canoe and Kayak wildwater race team, while in high school. After graduation I got kind of lazy--sitting behind a desk--and was pretty unhealthy. One day I decided enough was enough and started doing the Beachbody P90x workouts. I realized that this was unsustainable and wanted to find something I would enjoy and could do long term. I picked up road biking and then running, then wound up putting it all together at the Lake Guntersville Duathlon and was hooked with multisport. The duathlon brought back my joy for racing and training and I haven't looked back since. I have become more focused in my training and racing and enjoy every minute of it.
I am in my fourth year of racing triathlon and enjoy all aspects of the sport. I enjoy just getting out training and preparing for races, the adrenaline of coming up to transition and the joy of crossing the finish line. The multisport crowd is an amazing community that is full of support for everyone with friendly competition. This year I hope to set new PRs for at the Half and Full Ironman distance events and continue to better myself.
Short Term Goals
Improve running efficiency and improve my overall running form off the bike. I am primarily a biker so the running has and will always be an area for improvement. Swimming is also in my bucket of areas to improve on and I hope the offseason work will reap rewards.
Long Term Goals
My long term goal is to rank in the top 10% in USAT in my age group. I feel this is a daunting task but you have to set your goals high enough to push you to improve. My other long term goals are to qualify for the Boston Marathon and to race at Kona.
